Life as… a PR & Events Specialist
Back to BlogOlivia Frankel gives an insight into her average day at Mercedes-Benz Cars
My role is…
“I work as a PR & Events Specialist within Mercedes-Benz Cars and I’ve been here for four years now. Within PR, I work across all things brand and lifestyle and on the events side, I’m lucky enough to support with the delivery of our exciting events calendar – including events like the British Grand Prix, Retailer Celebrations and Investors’ Experiences to name a few.”
What I’ve learnt from this role…
“I’m very lucky to work with such a great team – many of whom have worked in the business for 20+ years! Their incredible knowledge is a constant source of learning for me.
“Most recently, my role has given me the opportunity to understand how to develop relationships with media and influencers, as well as manage agencies and understand what’s involved with creating a successful event from start to finish.”
Why I got involved with Laureus…
“When I first started at Mercedes-Benz, I was presented with the opportunity to support our charity partner Laureus. I initially worked with the lead for Street League – one of the Laureus charities – before moving into the lead role myself last year. I’ve been able to see the impact that our work has on the young people and if I can be just a small part of improving their future, then it’s a great thing to be a part of.”
What I enjoy about my role with Laureus and Street League…
“My favourite thing about working with Street League is that the role gives me the opportunity to contribute towards a young person’s professional development, whether this be through virtual workshops or physical workshops at one of the charity’s 13 UK sites.”
What I’ve learnt from this role…
“It has been a privilege to speak to so many young people through our ongoing work with Street League. The opportunity has made me aware of the challenges that young people face, and the impact and value of the charity’s work.”
“The role has also improved my project and people management skills, as the position requires me to manage the annual activations calendar whilst building a good rapport with the charity team to create a strong partnership.”
