Undergraduates – Frequently asked questions

What is a Mercedes-Benz undergraduate placement?

Mercedes-Benz undergraduate placements offer university students the opportunity to supplement their degree with professional development. Students can prepare themselves for the workplace and grow their skill set within a diverse global organisation.

When is the start date for undergraduate placements?

Our undergraduate placement years start in August.

What does the application process involve?

Competition for our undergraduate schemes is very high which means that the application process is challenging, but it’s fun, too. The application process begins with an English and Maths skills assessment, followed by a short interview with HR. Finally, you will be invited down to our Head Office in Milton Keynes to attend one of our assessment centres.

The assessment centres are a great opportunity for you to find out more about us. You’ll get involved in group tasks, meet some of our managers and take part in a formal interview. Whilst it can be a nerve-wracking experience, we’re sure you’ll soon feel at ease and enjoy it.

Where is the placement located?

All our placement schemes are based at our Head Office in Milton Keynes. The address is: Delaware Dr, Tongwell Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, MK15 8BA.

When do undergraduate applications open?

Applications for our undergraduate placement scheme are open from October to January. Keep an eye on our LinkedIn page Mercedes-Benz in the UK to keep up to date with our job openings!

Advice for people applying for a Mercedes-Benz undergraduate placement?

Try your best to be yourself, be confident through the application process and demonstrate the skills and attributes you’ll bring to the team. The process can be daunting, especially if this will be your first corporate role, but we’ll make you feel relaxed and comfortable.

Does Mercedes-Benz offer short term placements?

We don’t offer short term placements; we offer undergraduate placements which last one year. Students can join us to get some workplace experience before returning to finish their final year of university.

Work Experience – Frequently asked questions

Does Mercedes-Benz offer Year 10 work experience?

Work experience placements are not something that we offer at Mercedes-Benz UK.

Does Mercedes-Benz offer summer internships?

We don’t offer short term placements or summer internships.

How do I apply for work experience at my local Mercedes-Benz retailer?

Please contact your local retailer directly for work experience placements as each dealership can offer different opportunities.

Graduate Roles – Frequently asked questions

What is the Mercedes-Benz graduate programme?

We offer a two-year fixed term graduate programme in our Finance department where you’ll complete four diverse rotations in Controlling, Accounting, Group Controlling and Tax. Alongside your rotations, you’ll also have the opportunity to work towards a company-funded and globally recognised ACCA qualification.

At Mercedes-Benz UK we offer a range of apprenticeship programmes, with different lengths and level of qualification to suit your career goals

Level 6 Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship

Our degree apprenticeships help you learn about our business. Through a series of placements during a four-year programme, you’ll get to know the different teams within Mercedes-Benz Cars and gain valuable insight into who we are. In each placement, you’ll get involved in activities with real purpose and exciting opportunities to innovate, giving you the chance to put your learning into practice.

You’ll study for a BSc (Hons) Business and Management via the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship in partnership with MK:U (Cranfield University), completing your degree through a mixture of virtual and on-campus study.

Level 6 Digital Technology Degree Apprenticeship

Our specialist degree apprenticeship helps you learn about our business while studying for a BA (Hons) Digital and Technology Solutions in partnership with MK:U (Cranfield University), completing your degree through a mixture of virtual and on-campus study.

Through a series of placements during a four-year programme, you’ll get to know the different teams within Mercedes-Benz Cars and gain valuable insight into who we are. In each placement, you’ll get involved in activities with real purpose and exciting opportunities to innovate, giving you the chance to put your learning into practice.

Level 4 Data Fellowship Apprenticeship

Our Level 4 Data Fellowship programme is a two-year FTC where apprentices become confident analysts, able to turn raw data into meaningful insights that organisations can act on. You will get involved in day-to-day activities with real purpose and be given exciting opportunities to innovate and put your learning into practice.

What are the entry requirements for Mercedes-Benz apprenticeship programmes?

We look for applicants who have had some work experience and/or voluntary work experience. The entry requirements for the individual apprenticeship programmes are as follows:

Chartered Manager Degree Apprentice

  • Have (or be predicted to achieve) at least 280 UCAS points (or 112 points in new ratings) at A-Level in any discipline, excluding General Studies
  • GCSE grade 4 in Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
  • A UK/EU/EAA resident for at least three years before the programme starts
  • Left full-time education before the programme starts
  • The right to live and work in the UK

Digital Technology Degree Apprentice 

  • Have (or be predicted to achieve) at least 280 UCAS points (or 112 points in new ratings) at A-Level in any discipline, excluding General Studies
  • GCSE grade 4 in Maths and English Language (or equivalent)
  • A UK/EU/EAA resident for at least three years before the programme starts
  • Left full-time education before the programme starts
  • The right to live and work in the UK

Data Fellowship Level 4 Apprentice

  • A UK/EU/EAA resident for at least three years before the programme start
  • Have at least a grade of 4 GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Not previously studied the course content
  • Not undertake any other qualification during the apprenticeship
  • The right to work in the UK
